Discovery day of landscapes and heritage of the Terre d'Argence, in Beaucaire, Bellegarde, Fourques... Bucolic walk and walk through the story told by a blogger
This morning in Provence, the air is sweet, the sun still has spring leniency, it is the ideal time for a walk in the stones, as my friend Irene says. So I call her, and I offer him a little city hike. She just arrived in the Land of Argence, and I know there is still a thousand and one corner to make her discover. Time to take a light sweater, and here I am a tourist guide.
Beaucaire, City of Art and History
Armed on the ramparts of the castle, Irene discovers the surrounding landscapes. To begin our visit, I brought her to the Château de Beaucaire. After a visit to the museum, where Irene learned that the city was once one of the richest in France, we took a few steps in the pretty park with Mediterranean species, then we went down to the center.
What a beautiful view! It's really beautiful !
As I had a little potashed the subject, I was able to show my friend the beautiful Beaucairois facades, behind which wealthy traders traded in his sumptuous mansions. There are dozens of details to observe, it's beautiful !
Before going to eat, I made him discover also the Church of Notre Dame des Pommiers and its Romanesque frieze. Like me, Irene was touched by the beauty of the place. It's true that there is magic in this church...
St. Lawrence Chapel
As it seemed to entertain her, we left even further back, towards the 12th century ! Irène already knew the Chapelle Saint-Laurent in Jonquières St Vincent, and she agreed to picnic at her feet in the poppies field. During the tasting nap, I dreamed that I was the Roman Emperor Claude, and wanted to recover the mileage pillars that support the vault of the chapel.
The Tower of the Madonna
We went back on the road, we were chatting quietly, when my friend suddenly asked me what this building was, up there, on the hill. I told her that what she saw was the Tower of the Madonna in Bellegarde, and I started telling her her story. The Crusades, the Huguenots, Our Lady of Bellegarde... But Irene wasn't really listening to me. She had a little lost gaze in her dreams...
The Suspension Bridge in Fourques
To close this peaceful day in accordance with the blue of his eyes, I parked the car at the entrance to Fourques, and hand in hand Irene and I crossed the Suspension Bridge. It was terribly romantic, as always !
