Discover the beautiful Saint-Jacques de Saujan’s chapel, Provencal Romanesque church, a remarkable monument of Beaucaire in Gard, on the right bank of the Rhône.
The Saujan’s Chapel was built in the late Provençal Romanesque style in the 13th century. It is the only remnant of a hamlet that once bordered the road linking Beaucaire to Arles.
Recently restored, the chapel has now regained its yesteryear splendor.
Inside, the single nave composed of three spans. A small cemetery is adjacent to the north side of the chapel. As an annex to the parish of Saint-Paul de Beaucaire, religious services are still taking place here.
