Escape game, tested and approved
We tested the escape game at the Fortress of Beaucaire as a family! Testimonial of our experience, a “treasure hunt” type of activity to discover as a family in Gard!
In the footsteps of the Knights of the Round Table...
On Saturday, with my tribe of teenagers, we decided to go on a quest for the Holy Grail at the Escape Game in Beaucaire.
That's good, I don't yet know the Beaucaire Fortress and its wooded garden, and it's a good excuse to combine a cultural visit and an ado-compatible, fun and playful activity.
My daughters who are between 11 and 15 years old were afraid of being bored, they who are often glued to their screens, but I am told that the game is suitable for young and adult audiences, and the future will prove to us that it is indeed great from 10 - 12 years old!
The adventure starts in the chapel
After a quick brief we start the game in the fortress chapel. We understand that in this escape game there are enigmas to solve, codes to find to reach the famous grail. The game is in French and English and we listen religiously to the voice of Raimond VII giving us the first instructions. So far so good.
Attack the dungeon!
The girls rush in search of the first clue that is apparently in the dungeon.
Great, the game gives us access to many rooms that are usually forbidden to the public, we have the impression of being privileged.
We glean clues like puzzle pieces and it's not necessarily easy to put all the pieces back together, but that's what gives spice to the adventure, otherwise it would be too simple!
The game was designed by the designers of two successful escape games in the area (the ancient theater in Orange and the arenas in Nîmes) and it shows! It's well put together, there are sound effects, we get busy playing. The girls are all in.
The treasure hunt continues on the ramparts of the medieval castle!
The game allows us to discover all the hidden corners of the fortress. We climb the spiral stairs, we walk the rampart path, we go back down, we can say that it's sporty! I take a moment to admire the incredible view of the Rhône, the castle of Tarascon in front of us, and a little further on the Alpilles, on the horizon. it's magnificent!
We are reaching the goal!
In the round tower we meet Merlin and this piece is unanimous, a moment of laughter with the girls, impossible to find the page we are looking for in the dusty, saperlipopette spellbook!
We end with the famous room where our treasure is hidden. Without giving away all the secrets of the game, we can simply say that we have found the grail, the real one, and that it is a real pleasure to be able to hold it in our hands!
Beyond the joy of having accomplished our mission, we are leaving Beaucaire with a big smile! What a pleasure to have shared a moment with the family and to have discovered the remains of this magnificent castle, undoubtedly one of the remarkable heritages of the area.
