La Zébuline, peasant spirulina farm

La Zébuline has been a spirulina farm in Jonquières-Saint-Vincent since 2021. The installation, on a human scale, consists of 500 m² of basins arranged in greenhouses.

It is the richest food on earth after breast milk. Spirulina is an incredible food that helps fight fatigue and anemia. In particular, it is widely used by athletes and vegetarians for example.

Catherine welcomes you with a big smile to her farm to help you discover spirulina and its culture.

At Catherine, this microorganism grows in greenhouses in above-ground basins during the hottest months of the year (from April to October). This cyanobacterium requires a lot of attention and presence.

The visit will allow you to understand all the stages from production to harvest, from seeding to sale, is carried out on site by Catherine, a passionate person who likes to transmit and explain her job.

Resolutely focused on an ecological approach, everything is thought out and designed to preserve a quality environment. The farm only uses the natural resource of the sun to heat and light the pools, and since 2023 the installation of photovoltaic panels has ensured its complete energy autonomy.

During your visit, you will be able to discover the basins and how they work, and Catherine will explain the complete harvesting process to you.
