The 4 best swimming spots in the area :

1/ The most impressive: at the foot of the majestic Pont du Gard

To do at least once in your life: swim in the Gardon, at the foot of the Pont du Gard! Obviously, you will enjoy this Roman bridge classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and if you feel like it, you can visit the museum that traces its history.
At this place, the Gardon is very wide and there are many places to land and picnic. Don’t forget your water shoes !

Access to the site’s rates :  Adult rate : 9.50 €, reduced rate : 7 €. Free for children under 18 years old.

2/ The coolest : the Gardon in Collias

Do you like fresh water ? We found for you a dream setting : in Collias, the Gardon makes a wide loop at the foot of the cliffs, the decor is just magical and the bathing area is fresh and perfect !

The spot is well known to locals and regulars, and can sometimes be crowded on weekends. Our tip : in the hottest summer hours, come at the end of the day, take your aperitif and why not your picnic to enjoy the place and dine at sunset. Families leave the banks of the Gardon around 6pm, then the spectacular site is yours, and it's just magical !
You will find small pebble beaches and large flat rocks to lay your towel. Water shoes are highly recommended, pebbles are quite unpleasant for the feet !
In period of strong heat, the seats in the shade are quickly filled, feel free to go up the river and walk a little to find a less crowded corner.
You will find the parking right after the bridge on your left when arriving from Beaucaire.

3/ The family friendly, the Saintes Marie de la mer

At barely 50 kms, you already reach the sea, on the Camargue side.
In Saintes Maries de la Mer, you will enjoy a very long sandy beach, ideal for young and old. In the evening, watch out for mosquitoes, you are in the heart of the Camargue !
Who has never dreamed of galloping on a Camargue horse on a huge sandy beach ? In Saintes Maries, you can realize this dream, several equestrian centers offer walks on the dunes that you will love.
Saintes Maries de la Mer is a good compromise for those who want to go to the beach but also to discover a charming seaside resort, stroll through the alleys and do some shopping. In this small town, many restaurants offer lunch on the terrace, you will be spoilt by the choice.

4/ The wildest, the beach of l'Espiguette

The beach of l’Espiquette is just a few kilometers away from the Grau du Roi, it is a wild and preserved place where you will see many birds.

L'Espiguette is a 10 kilometer of endless beach, exceptional water quality, the guarantee of finding a corner where you will be alone in the world (if you are ready to walk a little !).
A unique beach in Europe, without any human construction, nature and that's all... Apart from a few small wooden huts, environmentally friendly, such as the Oyat Plage which offers seasonal lunches on the go and cocktails to drink with your feet in the sand. The restaurant also offers paddles and pedalos for rent for half an hour or an hour.

A paid parking allows you to reach the beach. On this hug parking, do not miss the right access to the sea ! Indeed, part of the beach is reserved for naturists.
