Take a walk in the Mont-Michel Park in Bellegarde, thanks to the educational trail. An easy walk adapted to families that invites young and old alike to discover nature.
The Mont-Michel Park is located in the heart of the village of Bellegarde. This pretty park is a small forest in the middle of the city !
This educational trail is a 1.3 km loop suitable for families and allows a real discovery of the fauna and flora of Mont-Michel thanks to explanatory panels.
The start of this trail is on Rue du Dr Grimaud near the Source Room.
Mont-Michel was once marked by the work of men. It was grown on terraces for vines and olive trees. A windmill even topped its summit at the beginning of the 19th century.
The evolution of agriculture and the freezing of olive trees in 1956 caused the abandonment, then the disappearance of cultivated plots on Mont-Michel. Over time, it becomes a wooded area, a real breathing space in the city.
During this walk, take the time to smell, listen, observe !
This walk is an opportunity to discover Bellegarde from above.
Near the Tour de la Madone, you can pass near vine plots, some of which are classified AOP Clairette de Bellegarde, a dry white wine that only exists here produced by a handful of winemakers.
Bellegarde is a village marked by water, since it has 16 natural springs ! The small forest of Mont-Michel also benefits from the omnipresence of water and many tree species proliferate there such as Aleppo pine, holm oak, hackberry, kermès oak, oak kermès, oak, olive, hawthorn...
Will you be able to recognize them ?
You can even make the trees sing !
Our advice :
Pick up elements of nature on the ground throughout the walk: pine trees, tree leaves, flowers... So you can let your creativity speak for itself and create your painting at the end of the walk !
