Not that we were the first to build them, of course. But the one in Fourques was one of the first to be put into service in Gard.
The water of the Rhône will supply the village. The Fourques’ water tour is inspired by the ones in Aigues-Mortes and the Saintes, its construction will be completed in 1900.
The centrifugal pump operated by steam supplies water in the streets and houses. For this service, the municipality had to make a loan, at the time, for over 20 years!
Largely profitable today, the water tower now waters the plants of the Commune..
