I’m coming by bike

The ViaRhôna and the Mediterranean by bike routes pass through our region.

If you’re traveling on the ViaRhôna:

  • Coming from Avignon:
After one last glimpse of the City of Popes, ViaRhôna enters the Gard region. The route then winds between vineyards and orchards before joining the greenway at the Pont du Gard, which will gently lead you to Beaucaire, a city of art and history at the crossroads of Provence and the Camargue.
  • Coming from Arles:
This route connects cities steeped in history: Roman Arles with its extraordinary heritage and Beaucaire, a city of art and history with its charming river port. ViaRhôna crosses a plain along a provisional shared road. Construction is planned for 2023, and a new greenway will soon be available.
  • Coming from Saint-Gilles:
On small roads, the route enters the edges of the Camargue plain, surrounded by fields and irrigation canals.
Upon reaching the port of Bellegarde, you’ll take a new greenway linking the ports of Bellegarde and Beaucaire. This path runs along the Rhône-to-Sète Canal for 12 kilometers.

If you’re traveling on the Mediterranean by bike:

  • Coming from Saint-Gilles:
On this section, the Mediterranean by bike route shares the same path as the ViaRhôna.
You’ll follow small roads and then the new greenway between Bellegarde and Beaucaire.
  • Coming from Cavaillon and Saint-Étienne-du-Grès:
Crossing the Alpilles, stop in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence before heading to Tarascon.
You’ll take the greenway between Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and Saint-Étienne-du-Grès. The next section is still under development, but a temporary route has been marked up to Tarascon. To reach Beaucaire, you simply need to cross the bridge.
