Visit the villages of Terre d'Argence (in Gard): points of interest, heritage and history. Beaucaire, Vallabrègues, Bellegarde, Jonquières-Saint-Vincent and Fourques.
Terre d'Argence owes its name to the silver reflections of the poplars that border the Rhône. Located at the eastern end of the Gard, between Nîmes, Arles and Avignon, it is a central and strategic place to discover the region, Camargue and Provence.
The Terre d'Argence is crossed by the Rhône, geographical border between Gard, Bouches du Rhône and Vaucluse.
Thus, opposite Beaucaire (just on the other side of the bridge), we find Tarascon located in the Bouches du Rhône.
A few kilometers to the north of the territory, it is beautiful Avignon, located in Vaucluse.
A bit of history...
The primitive contours of Terre d'Argence do not exactly correspond to the current limits of the canton of Beaucaire; this territory included in addition to the villages of Beaucaire, Fourques and Jonquières, those of Comps, Meynes and Montfrin, excluding Bellegarde and Vallabrègues.
Today, Terre d'Argence is composed of 5 cities and villages: Beaucaire, Bellegarde, Vallabrègues, Jonquières-Saint-Vincent and Fourques
