The greenway from Beaucaire to Uzès via the Pont du Gard !

The longest greenway in the Gard ! This cycling itinerary connects the two cities of Art & History that are Beaucaire and Uzès, i.e. 32 kilometers. The route consists almost entirely of a bike path, and passes near 2 remarkable sites: the Abbey of Saint-Roman and the Pont du Gard, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The history of this greenway : This itinerary is in fact on the route of the old Martinet railway, which was used in the 19th century to transport coal and silk coils. On your way, you will come across remains of this railway line, such as the Meynes Monfrin station, which is no longer active today.
In 2015, the first section was inaugurated to Montfrin, then to Cernac. In 2019 the greenway extends to Pont du Gard, and in 2020 to Uzès.

Biking, a gentle way to discover the territory and enjoy the landscapes !
During your trip, you wander between vineyards and garrigue, near typical villages in the region. Poppy fields, Camargue horses will mark out your ride !
Around Comps, cyclists use the old railway tunnel that lights up as they pass ! As we move forward, rings of light turn on thanks to a lighting system that detects movements, which will delight young and old alike !

Distance in kilometers : The greenway is about 32 km long. It is a walk accessible to all. The trip is practically flat all the way.

Duration of the trip : about 3 hours one way by bike without electric assistance.
The green way for all! Rollers, cyclists, petions, strollers, people with disabilities.
Throughout the trip, wooden picnic tables are provided to take a break.

Good to know :
the Pont du Gard crossing is free for all cyclists passing through.

Points of difficulty on your trip :
Lack of markings at the Remoulins right bank roundabout. At the level of the motorhome area, the bike path ends and it will be necessary to drive a few hundred meters on the road before joining the rest of the greenway.
Same thing in the opposite direction.
